Offering a welcome supply boost to energy hungry Britain, Nexen is aiming to have Ettrick on stream by late 2007 instead of waiting for capacity on its big Buzzard facility, which would not become available until after the end of the decade.
Bluewater is offering its Aoka Mizu baredeck hull for the project while Maersk is understood to be touting either one of its trading tankers for conversion to an FPSO or an existing vessel from its North Sea fleet, which increased significantly in size this year following parent company Maersk Oil&Gas' acquisition of Kerr-McGee's UK assets.
