The vessel was operating for India’s state-owned major Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) around 200 kilometres from the Mumbai coast when the fire incident took place.
More than two dozen crew members have been evacuated without any casualties from the offshore service vessel, which carried 33 crew members in total, the Indian Coast Guard said. A total of 28 people have been evacuated, with an additional five crew members staying on board to help manage the situation.
