Excelerate drives on cargo offload LNG ship starts unloading at Gulf of Mexico's first receiving buoy

EXCELERATE Energy's liquefied natural gas cargo-carrying and regasifying vessel Excelsior is docked at the Gulf of Mexico's first LNG receiving buoy and offloading gas at rates of up to 600 million cubic feet per day.

The vessel arrived at the submerged turret loading Gulf Gateway buoy at West Cameron Block 603 on 17 March.

Regasification started on 20 March after three days of commissioning work.

"We have gone through a period of time where we have operated at various flow rates to fully test and prove up the capabilities of the system," said Excelerate official John Cook.
