Exmar and SBM Offshore are the only names still in the race to design and build the Hopkins floater, with both Technip and a four-way consortium of Aker Solutions, KBR, Wood Group Mustang and Samsung Heavy Industries said to be out of contention.
Upstream broke the news last month that BP has quietly initiated a fast-track process to build a 60,000 barrels per day facility to develop its under-the-radar Hopkins discovery in the Green Canyon area of the US Gulf.
