The US Gulf of Mexico could be set for one of its most active exploration years in recent memory, company statements and US regulatory data suggest, with a new find from Shell at the Blacktip well in the Alaminos Canyon area already getting the year off to an exciting start.
Chevron and Total are also leading off the list as the two supermajors continue their efforts to explore in the Norphlet trend, where they have already notched what has reportedly been a big success with the Ballymore prospect.
