There is potentially a busy three to five year period ahead for offshore exploration in New Zealand, with a number of drilling campaigns being lined up, despite the government’s decision to halt licensing of new acreage, writes Russell Searancke.
The country’s largest operator is Austria’s OMV, which is fresh from acquiring Shell’s upstream assets, including an offshore exploration block in the frontier Great South basin.
