There were no injuries to workers and no one was directly threatened in the 24 September incident. The operator said the incident occurred in a quarry not a campsite, as some reports suggested.
The arson attack, which is believed to be an escalation of the land disputes at the PNG LNG construction site, occurred last Friday night at Kaiam, near the project’s Kopi LNG plant, according to local newspaper The National.
