The US supermajor is known to be in talks with Single Buoy Moorings to convert a tanker into what would be its fourth generic FPSO, with suggestions that a fifth unit may also be on the cards.
The Usan move parallels a similar, albeit unsuccessful, proposal made by the US giant last year whereby it suggested to the French company that a generic FPSO could be used to develop its Cravo/Lirio fields in Angolan deep-water block 17.
