ExxonMobil planning seismic shoot in Gulf of Papua

ExxonMobil is planning to acquire 3D seismic in the Gulf of Papua deep-water in the first half of 2018.

The US operator is looking for more gas to underpin more expansion trains at its PNG LNG facility, and said recently it believes there is “significant opportunity” in PNG’s untested deep-water plays.

“The new frontier in PNG is offshore with multiple plays, both clastic and carbonate, being identified and screened using newly acquired high quality seismic data,” a spokesman said.
