ExxonMobil will start up new production facilities at the Sakhalin 1 development off Russia’s far east next year and in 2018, with a second rig to augment drilling activity at one of the three producing fields.

“We are proceeding with the design and development of the second phase, which aims to increase crude production as well as add gas injection and produced water treatment capacity,” Glenn Waller, president of ExxonMobil Russia, said at the International Petroleum Week conference in London last week.
