US supermajor ExxonMobil is evaluating initial bids documents from contractors battling to land an offshore fabrication order in Nigeria related to the shallow-water Ibot project.

Upstream understands that the Texas-based giant is evaluating technical bids that were received from multiple players last month eager to build a wellhead platform.

The platform is expected to weigh about 2000 tonnes with the winning bidder set to be responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, transport and installation plus hook-up and commissioning.
