US supermajor ExxonMobil has unveiled plans to boost Permian basin production by nearly 80% to more than 1 million barrels equivalent per day by as early as 2024, writes Caroline Evans.

The company said it has boosted its goal as it has become more “confident” in its operations in the Permian.

“We will leverage our large, contiguous acreage position, our improved understanding of the resource and the full range of ExxonMobil’s capabilities in executing major projects,” ExxonMobil senior vice president Neil Chapman said.
