US supermajor ExxonMobil is set to move forward with a major long-term development at its Bajo del Choique-La Invernada block in Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale play.

The project in Neuquen province is intended to produce a peak rate of 55,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day within five years, according to the company.

It is expected to include the drilling of 90 wells together with construction of a central production facility and export infrastructure connected to the Oldeval pipeline and local refineries.
