While private operators are being allowed to continue with work commitments off Mexico, some analysts say the oil and gas sector as well as the broader economy is facing policy uncertainty and mixed messages from the populist administration of Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, writes Kathrine Schmidt.
“It’s not precisely what has been done, or hasn't been done, it’s a lack of consistent strategy and viewpoint that is being communicated out of the administration,” says John Padilla, managing director with the IPD Latin America consultancy.
