Fairfield Geotechnologies has wrapped up the acquisition phase of its Waynesburg III multi-client 3D programme in south-west Pennsylvania and north-west West Virginia in the prolific Appalachian basin.

The programme covers 120 square miles (310 square kilometres) in Marshall and Ohio counties in West Virginia and Washington County, Pennsylvania, in the heart of the gassy Marcellus shale play.

“The Waynesburg III survey will provide high fold, full azimuth subsurface coverage necessary for high resolution seismic imaging of the primary objective Marcellus formation,” Fairfield said in a release.
