Neither the crew nor the operator’s maintenance were to blame for the fatal helicopter crash that killed 13 people off Norway two years ago.
The root cause of the disaster on 29 April 2016 near the island of Turoy was a fatigue fracture in a component of the main rotor gearbox (MGB) of the Airbus Helicopters-manufactured EC 225 LP Super Puma, the Accident Investigation Board Norway (AIBN) has concluded.
