A total of 5000 workers were questioned, with 75% saying the decision to incorporate the Offshore Division (OSD) of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) into a wider Energy Division risks undermining offshore safety.

The survey, released by jobs website OilandGasPeople.com, also found 62% were worried that the scrapping of the unit could lead to another Piper Alpha disaster, which claimed 167 lives in 1988 — still the world’s worst offshore accident.
