Chongqing Shale Gas Exploration & Development Company has made a significant shale gas discovery in Chongqing in the western part of the Sichuan basin, writes Xu Yihe.
The Zhu 202 discovery well flowed 49,000 cubic metres of shale gas per day after fracking via a 4 millimetre choke.
Sources said that more appraisal drilling and 3D seismic surveys will be conducted in order to firm up reserves for a potential development.
