Pakistan’s Mari Petroleum has made an oil discovery on its operated Ghauri block in the country's Punjab province.
The Dharian-l ST-3 exploration well was drilled near Gujar Khan in Rawalpindi district to a total depth of 4770 metres with the objective of testing the hydrocarbon potential of the Sakessar and Khewra formations.
Drillstem testing on the Khewra formation yielded 372 barrels per day of 29 degrees API crude.
