The first of the two shallow-water discoveries off the west coast of Sabah, East Malaysia was made with the Zuhal East-1 wildcat in the Samarang Asam Paya Block about 130 kilometres south-west of the state capital Kota Kinabalu.
Zuhal East-1 is estimated to have discovered about 550 billion cubic feet of gas in place.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 2336 metres in a water depth of 38 metres.
