Fires forced the closure last weekend of Nigeria's Trans-Forcados Pipeline (TFP) through which around 240,000 barrels per day of oil from some 15 fields is sent to the Shell-operated Forcados Terminal in Delta State.
Despite the closure, however, force majeure has not been declared on exports.
The incident is thought to have been the result of poor management of ageing infrastructure leading to “pressure issues affecting pump machinery”, the trunkline's operator Heritage Energy said.
