Equinor has successfully delivered the first oil exports from its giant Johan Sverdrup field off Norway to the Mongstad plant on the country’s west coast.
The delivery along a 283-kilometre pipeline to shore “confirms that the field is producing well”, according to the state-controlled operator, following start-up on 5 October a month ahead of schedule.
An initial tanker cargo of 1 million barrels of crude, with an estimated value of $60 million at current oil prices, was set to depart the refinery for Chinese buyer Sinopec this week.
