First Nations participation 'will be vital for future Canada projects'

The participation of Canada's First Nations will be vital in moving future energy projects forward as regulators and developers increasingly seek a path ahead on reconciliation, writes Caroline Evans.

Consultation with First Nations has already proved critical in advancing the Shell-led LNG Canada project, which reached a final investment decision only after signing benefits agreements with and receiving support from each elected band along the route of the project's 670-mile (960-kilometre) pipeline.
