Oil prices fell on Wednesday, but were well up on the previous week, having gained for five consecutive days in a row.
The biggest single gain came on Tuesday after news of a Russian bomber being shot down by Turkey on the Syrian border.
A stronger US dollar and a shift of focus the following day back to global crude supply gluts weighed down on prices.
