Five companies have officially put their hats into the ring for the recently-launched auction of the producing Bongkot and Erawan gas fields off Thailand, writes Amanda Battersby.

Those with their eyes still on the spoils are national upstream company PTTEP, US supermajor Chevron, Total of France, Austria’s OMV and Mubadala Petroleum of the United Arab Emirates.

However, the consortium of Al Jaber and Haicheng Petroleum Machinery Manufacture Company that had initially expressed interest is said to have failed to submit the required documents to the Department of Mineral Fuels before last week’s deadline.
