A spokesman for the Calgary-based operator said Ocean Rig's semi-submersible Eirik Raude is currently in Halifax .
The semisub is being modified for use in this harsh Atlantic area after earlier completing EnCana's unsuccessful Torbrook deep-water probe off Nova Scotia .
The spokesman said the aim is to first drill the Mizzen prospect in the northern part of the basin.
However, the plan could change because the area is prone to seeing ice, both bergs and pack ice.
