Petrobras has called off a tender aimed at centralising its offshore logistics for handling flexible pipe, after the leading contestant, TechnipFMC, balked at the terms and conditions, writes Gareth Chetwynd.
Petrobras has used flexible pipe solutions for subsea umbilicals, risers and flowline systems more than any other deep-water operator over the years.
Although rigid-risers are being favoured in the carbon dioxide-rich pre-salt fields, handling flexibles still forms a vital part of the Brazilian company's offshore operations.
