CONOCOPHILLIPS is preparing for the next development stage of its Caldita-Barossa gas project off northern Australia, with a floating production unit beginning to take centre stage as the preferred concept.
The US oil company has for some time been examining the merits of either a substantial fixed platform solution or a floating production facility for the project.
The fixed platform solution would be akin to the US operator’s nearby Bayu-Undan field, which features two platforms and a floating storage and offloading vessel.
