A consortium comprising Fluor of the US and JGC of Japan has emerged as the preferred bidder for a key engineering, procurement and construction contract covering the Shell-operated LNG Canada project in British Columbia, Canada.

Industry officials said Fluor-JGC is tipped to win the deal for the liquefied natural gas scheme after it offered a more cost-efficient proposal for the engineering, procurement supply construction and commissioning contract covering Trains 1 and 2 of the potential four-train plant.
