Since the start of 2013, all offshore support vessels plying Indonesian waters — including 5000-bhp and above units — have had to meet the cabotage requirements, which means they have to be 51%-Indonesian owned and flagged under the local registry to work within the country’s territorial waters.

OSVs, along with floating storage offloading and floating production, storage and offloading vessels, are among the first asset classes servicing the upstream sector to fall under Indonesian cabotage jurisdiction.
