The former president director of Indonesian state oil company Pertamina, Karen Agustiawan, has been jailed for eight years after being found guilty of causing 568 billion rupiah ($39.9 million) in state losses relating to the acquisition of the Basker Manta Gummy (BMG) asset in Australia, writes Amanda Battersby.

A panel of judges found that Agustiawan had colluded with the oil company’s former financial director Frederik Siahaan — earlier handed an eight-year jail term for his role - and two other Pertamina officials in the 2009 acquisition of a 10% stake in Roc Oil’s then-producing BMG asset.
