Four of the bidders — DFB Group, NECL, Pennecon Energy and Talon Energy/Fleetway Services — are based in St John’s, while the remaining contender, Kiewit Offshore Services, is located in Marystown.

The contract is due for award in the fourth quarter and covers fabrication of the 375-tonne structure which will be 75 metres tall.

Kiewit has already landed an order to build Hebron’s drilling support module at Marystown while NELC is constructing the living quarters module, having beaten a rival bid from DFB.
