US liquefied natural gas player Freeport LNG has received federal approval to site, construct and operate a fourth liquefaction train at its Texas export terminal.

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission last week said it had granted Freeport LNG authorisation to site, construct and operate the latest addition to the facility on Quintana Island.

The facility will see an increased total export capacity of over 20 million tonnes per annum with the addition of the fourth train.
