Brazil's Petrobras has hinted it may resume exploration activities in the deep-water section of the Jequitinhonha basin next decade, despite difficulties in obtaining environmental licences to drill in the frontier play, writes Fabio Palmigiani.

Industry sources told Upstream that Petrobras submitted environmental plans to regulators in a renewed effort to secure a permit to tackle sandstone reservoirs in Jequitinhonha, a full decade after the company last drilled a well in the region.
