Phuong Dong and the well-established Rang Dong field both reside in block 15-2 in the Cuu Long basin. JVPC holds a 46.5% operating stake in the tract with ConocoPhillips on 36% and PetroVietnam 17.5%.
The joint venture kicked off a year-long programme of drilling in and around Rang Dong late last year. The operator brought in Transocean's 400-foot water depth jack-up Trident 9 for a number of wells including water injection, workovers, gas lift, and more development wells at Rang Dong.
