Economic slowdown and the suspension of a switch from coal to gas have hit China’s natural gas demand growth this year, leading to concern among industry officials of a possible return to an energy policy in the country centred on coal consumption.
The government has recently re-focused efforts on monetising the country’s rich coal resources and is trying to take advantage of clean coal technology to make coal use more efficient and environmentally friendly.
