The agreement, reached during a visit to Tehran by Gazprom chief executive Alexei Miller, follows months of discussions in Tehran and Moscow, and coincides with an increase in tensions between Iran and the West.
Miller received the red carpet treatment and had a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. However, there is no indication of when Iran and the Russian gas monopoly might take concrete action on any of the proposed projects.
