Genel chief executive Mehmet Sepil was reported as saying this week that he saw Norway’s DNO, with which it is a partner on two Kurdistan licences, as a “natural partner” as it seeks to acquire assets.
The company has a $2.2 billion cash war chest for acquisitions after being formed through a $2.1 billion reverse takeover of Turkish player Genel Enerji by Vallares, led by former BP chief executive Tony Hayward, that is set to close around 21 November.
