The co-owners of the Gladstone liquefied natural gas (GLNG) project in Australia will spend more than A$400 million (US$305 million) on a new upstream project to develop more gas for export, writes Russell Searancke.

The Arcadia coalbed methane gas project, about 680 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, will involve drilling 137 new wells and constructing a 140-kilometre gas and water gathering network, two 4G communication towers, a new compression station, a water treatment plant, a gas-fired power station, and associated roads and infrastructure.
