The suit stems from royalties the Department of the Interior believes Anadarko predecessor Kerr-McGee owes related to 16 deep-water leases issued between 1996 and 2000.
At the time of the filing last year, Kerr-McGee maintained that pricing thresholds in the Deep Water Royalty Relief Act passed in 1995 by Congress were not explicitly provided for in the legislation.
