Mexican regulators have approved an exploration plan by Italian operator Eni covering its Area 24 in the Salina basin that could see a well drilled in mid-2021.
Eni's initial probe planned for 2021 could be followed by a second reaching into 2022, depending on the results of the first wildcat.
The first prospect in a base scenario would be Tlahuillli-1, which would target Middle and Lower Miocene objectives at between 2850 and 3650 metres below sea level.
