A new gas-fired power plant is set to be developed in Brazil’s Para state by joint venture Global Power for an investment of $430 million after it signed a supply pact with local utilities, writes Steve Marshall.

The 605-megawatt combined cycle thermal power plant, which will utilise imported liquefied natural gas for electricity generation, will be developed in the city of Barcarena by co-venturers Golar LNG and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners, which each hold 50% stakes in the joint venture.
