The rig entered a Gulf of Mexico shipyard in early May for modifications and was expected to arrive in Mexico soon, according to Rowan's latest fleet status report.
The 10% penalty will apply for about the first 60 days of operations, Rowan said. The contract re-prices every three months based on an index of jack-up rates and the next date for that to occur is 30 July.
