THE UK government and offshore regulator the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) are looking for ways to cut the predicted £60 billion ($78 billion) bill for decommissioning North Sea offshore oil and gas infrastructure, writes Rob Watts.

Under current forecasts, UK taxpayers are expected to receive a bill for £24 billion running into the 2050s as the Westminster government provides operators with tax relief on 40% of the costs of decommissioning.
