More than 300 people—including fishermen, local families, country house owners and other concerned citizens—organised a picket line in front of the main entrance to the massive construction complex near the town of Korsakov.
The arrival of Sakhalin Governor Ivan Malakhov on the picket line gave added weight to Saturday´s protest.
Speaking to protesters, the governor said that he and the regional government“share the concerns of the local population and support their demands”.
