Oil executives, state politicians and a member of US President Donald Trump’s Cabinet have lauded the grand opening of a massive project to capture carbon from a coal-fired power plant in Texas and pump it into an ageing oilfield to enhance recovery.
The Petra Nova project is the largest of its kind in the world and has already sequestered 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide since its start up earlier this year.
