The 10,000 barrel-per-day Algar steam-assisted gravity drainage project was expected to begin commissioning on 19 April and will include tie-in of three SAGD wells pads to the steam generation facility and oil processing plant.
Algar has a steam generation capacity of 30,000 bpd and was designed with an expansion capacity to 34,000 bpd.
According to Connacher, the project was completed on time and under budget, with final project costs to be determined after commissioning.
