Greece has ratified the long-awaited award of four deep-water blocks, a move that could herald the Athens-based authorities soon securing operators for open offshore acreage, writes Iain Esau.

In early October, Greece’s parliament ratified agreements with Repsol and Hellenic Petroleum over the Ionian block, which is located south and west of Corfu, and with Hellenic on a sole operator basis for Block 10 off the western Peloponnese.
