Titan Tire has opened up shop next door to Suncor Energy’s Voyageur upgrader in Canada to turn used heavy hauler tires into new products such as solvents, fuels, steel and even light and heavy oil — all the while avoiding generating carbon emissions.
The process involves cutting up the massive tires into smaller pieces and baking them in a thermal vacuum recovery unit to create reusable materials.
