Norwegian operaor Equinor confirmed it has found “good quality oil” at its Guanxuma exploration well on the BM-S-8 licence in Brazil’s Santos basin as it looks at development options for its major Carcara field in the same area.
Equinor said the well has been declared an oil discovery by Brazilian regulator ANP.
More work needs to be carried out but Equinor executive vice president for exploration Tim Dodson described what has been so far as “encouraging”.
